Kusum Haidar learnt Tai-chi from Mrs. Geddes, the renowned Tai Chi teacher at The Place, School for Contemporary Dance, London, from 1987 to 1991.

Kusum has been teaching Tai-chi at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, since 2000.
